On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, I had the opportunity to give a talk on the theme “How to support companies according to the life cycle of small and medium-sized enterprises” at the branch manager training held at Toyama Shinkin Bank’s B&L Consulting Square. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity.

In response to the increasingly diverse and sophisticated needs placed on regional financial institutions, Toyama Shinkin Bank has been strengthening its internal training this year to improve the skills of its branch managers and develop its senior staff. As part of this important initiative, I was invited to speak at a training session for branch managers.

About the talk

On the day, I spoke about the following topics from the perspectives of both a management consultant and the owner of a small business:

  • Our company’s path since its founding
  • My first-hand experience of business succession through M&A
  • How to think about management decisions when expanding a business
  • The challenges small and medium-sized enterprises face, and their potential for growth
  • Building an ideal relationship with financial institutions

I was glad that the talk also gave me a chance to express my gratitude to the people who have supported us over the years.

Looking ahead

As the environment surrounding small and medium-sized enterprises becomes harsher every year, the “side-by-side support” offered by financial institutions is essential to revitalizing the local economy. The session reminded me once again of the importance of partnerships in which companies and financial institutions grow together. The valuable opinions I received from the branch managers will be a great reference for our future activities.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Toyama Shinkin Bank for kindly arranging this opportunity despite their busy schedules.

We will continue to make the most of the experience and knowledge we have built up, and contribute wholeheartedly so that we can be of help to companies facing a variety of challenges, including small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and companies with succession issues.
